Cost of changing the name of the Philippines

It will cost too much to change the name of the Philippines. Think about how many many materials such as books, signs and uniforms would have change. Don’t forget about the marketing cost. We would have to explain to the world why we are doing this.
It’s true that it will cost a lot but how much unnecessary things does the government today waste money on? This would be a good investment: to raise the national consciousness. Regarding cost, how much did we pay to be called the Philippines? How much was our slave labor worth?

is it really necessary? what about Colombia? should they change their name? why is America… America?
In any industry, not just a change in name, but the look of a logo, like UPS or KFC changes in the last few years are extremely expensive. to change the name of a country would be even more expensive becuase not only will it effect The Philippines but all other countries, that list them on their sites… and really what is it about? colonialism? really? is there oppression today? do people feel oppressed by the Spaniards today?
I have to be honest and say that it drives me nuts to see people spending time and money on something that has very little impact, like when a celebrity wins money and donates it to a cat shelter.. dammit.. if they wanted to make a difference, donate just 5 cents of every dollar that they spend on cat food and they probably could feed a third world nation!
but good luck.. if it is your passion then so be it. I pesonally think that it is the cool thing to say and it will never get done. Which is another reason that it is a waste…
I can’t speak for the Colombian or American people. You can’t put a price on the culture of people or compare it to any corporation.
Of course there’s no outright Spanish oppression right now but we still feel the effects of it today and suffer physically/mentally. That’s what colonial mentality is. Do American blacks still suffer from slavery even if there’s no slavery today? I would say, yes.
Every movement that starts seems like it has very little impact at 1st. Was it a waste that the blacks and women in America wanted equal rights? Why go to the moon? At the time, it was seen as a waste. In time, the so-called Filipino people will wake up and be reborn. Thanks for commenting.
